Give a present to the earth!

The goal of the Living Planet Campaign is, through campaigning, to mobilize conservation action on a global scale, using the transition into the new millennium to encourage positive, responsible use of the natural environment and to achieve major conservation success. This is a critical period for saving life on earth, with up to 30 per cent of the world's biodiversity already lost in the last three generations. The Living Planet Campaign provides leadership and a platform for action to help meet the challenge.

The campaign aims to: Preserving representative treasures of nature, known as WWF's Global 200 ecoregions. These ecoregions encompass the most representative array of the earth's natural habitats. Save endangered species. Changing patterns of resource consumption, particularly how we exploit the world's fresh waters, forests, seas and energy resources such as coal, oil and gas that fuel climate change. It actively supports WWF's four international campaigns: Climate Change, Endangered Seas, Forests for Life and Living Waters. Independently, it also has four major initiatives to help meet the challenge. These include the BBC Earth Report series, Gifts to the Earth, Journey to Kathmandu: Sacred Gifts for a Living Planet and the Living Planet Report. Through a worldwide effort, the campaign brings together and highlights key parts of WWF's programme to encourage individuals, corporations and governments to take action. It seeks to activate people around the world as advocates, consumers and donors to help us lay a new foundation for conservation in the 21st century.
